Just a really quick post to say we visited the newly re-opened Woodberry Wetlands yesterday and I can't recommend it enough! We are lucky that it's only a short 15 minute walk from our house in Stoke Newington, London, but if you live in Hackney or even North London I would recommend a visit. It's 5 minute walk from Manor House tube station.
We were lucky to have beautiful sunny weather. These are the views out over the reservoir...
They have a fantastic cafe, which is always one of the most important parts with Finn! It's called Lizzy's at the Coal House and it's in the most beautiful setting looking out across the reservoir. You don't feel like you're in London at all (until you look up and see the high rises!) and it feels like a real haven. There aren't any proper playground areas but plenty to see and run around for a few hours. We did a big loop of the reservoir with buggies and had lunch back at the cafe. It was really affordable and a good choice of food with some healthy options, homemade cakes and incredible gelato to finish.
David Attenborough opened the 17 hectare nature reserve that's over 200 years old last weekend. Wildflower meadows, reed fringed ponds, wild wetland, an abundance of birds and wildlife make this a real gem of a find. The kids loved the walkways too.
